Who are we?

We are a middle-aged couple living in southeast Kansas seeking a return to a more simple, wholesome and deliberate life.

One day I was pondering the modern meaning of the word homesteader, and I thought of the play on words that make the title of this blog ... home(in)steader. And I realized that that phrase says more about what we're trying to achieve in life than anything else I could write.

We want to be home instead.

Instead of what? you may ask. We want to be at home, instead of working long hours to make someone else rich. We want to be at home, instead of sending our children off to institutionalized day-care and public school systems. We want to be at home, instead of out searching for the next big thrill.

Instead of doing anything else, we want to be at home.

This blog will serve as a semi-sometime newsletter of our lives for friends and family.
